REFLECTION RELATION
#Interaction #Communication #Empathy
This project explores the possibility of interaction between humans and plants by studying the way plants senses perceive the world. It establishes an interactive interface between human and urban plants though a variety of scientific research media, to build relationship between human and plants.
MANIFESTO
I am an observer concerned in our ecological environment.
I explore the deep connection between human and nature.
I emphasized the importance of empathy ability between human and plants.
I aim to cause the reflection of human, awakening consciousness, influencing behavior, repairing the relationship with nature.
With the rapid development of science and technology, information technology defines our relationship with nature in many ways. Our understanding of the non-human world is limited to scientific devices that translate natural processes, such as data. And these natural processes are beyond the reach of human senses. Information technology constructs how we process and distribute this knowledge. New areas of art and theory, such as new materialism and post-human research, have studied how we can communicate, interact and share experiences with the non-human world. “scientific” technologies are not somewhere outside this world but imbedded in it — the same way the technologies of trees or of other species are imbedded in our shared reality. They are interfaces through which we gain knowledge and interact with the world, but never simply boundaries between mind and matter.
Egocentrism leads to human neglect of the environment around us, Human is a concept with privilege. We should always challenge this concept. As we know, other species may look like human or have similar sensory system, social construction and living in similar environment. But this similarity doesn't make us realize that they have the same consciousness as human beings. For those species that look very different from us, such as trees, such as bacteria, you can't say they have no their consciousness, because they are different from human beings. Although people in today's world have a good understanding of cross species, non-human animals, climate change and so on, but although there is such awareness in the level of law and parliamentary decision-making, today's world is still very clearly divided into two levels of nature and culture.
